University Lawsuit Calls for Accountability and Campus Safety Reform
Lauren McCluskey’s parents filed a $56 million federal lawsuit against the University of Utah, alleging the university failed to protect their daughter despite her repeated reports of stalking, harassment, and extortion before her murder. This argued that university officials missed numerous opportunities to intervene and sought accountability for what the family described as preventable failures. While pursuing justice for Lauren, Matt and Jill McCluskey emphasized that their ultimate goal was to improve campus safety and ensure other students would not experience similar tragedies.
